Preparing for Your Dog's Stay
Whether you're here for the afternoon or the month, here we'll walk you through what to bring (what not to bring) and how to properly prepare for your dog's stay with Do Better Dog Training!
As a reminder, all guests will require a fecal sample as well as updated vaccination records for rabies, distemper and Bordetella. We strongly recommend a K9 influenza vaccine as well. If you have these you can upload them into your Gingr account (Step #2) or you can email them to us at info@dobettertraining.com.
Always bring
You should always bring a 6-10 foot leash and harness for your dog, their medicine or medical equipment etc. Training treats are always great to bring (although we have our own!) if your dog is particularly fussy or has a restrictive diet.
You can bring their favorite toy in most cases as well!
What not to bring
Some items we find don't work here, regardless of services:
Beds - All dogs that stay with us get an appropriately sized Kuranda bed, this is a comfy and hygienic way to keep dogs off the floor. We ask clients not to bring their own beds in most cases.
Food Dishes - We have a wide variety of food dishes, we ask that clients do not bring their pet's specific food bowls. If you would prefer your dog be fed in a slow feeder we have those too!
Unlabeled Items - Any items that do come in, blankets, toys etc, food containers should be properly labeled.
Doggy Day School
What should I bring for my dog's upcoming Day School Appointment?
For day school, the list of items that you should bring is actually quite small. Here's what you'll need:
Leash / Harness
Training Treats (if necessary)
Meals or Snacks for the day
Any training specific equipment (muzzles, car stairs)
Medication (if necessary)
We'll handle the rest!
Dog Boarding
If your dog is here for a longer stay, whether it's for training or just for our enrichment boarding program, there's a few more items that we'd recommend bringing. You'd likely still want to bring everything from the above Doggy Day School list, with the addition of:
Blankets / Tshirts - Something that smells like home. Blankets, tshirts, towels or small pillows / stufed toys are welcome to stay with your dog! You can bring a few of these small items, just make sure they have your name on them!
Double check meals / meds - Ensure that your dog has enough food and medication for their stay!
Double check Gingr - We use Gingr to guide us in taking care of your pet, if your dog is staying with us please go through your dog's information and ensure their feeding / medications are up to date, allergy information etc. and any notes we need to know!
