Taking a break
Every so often we get asked "why is my dog in their kennel?". Part of the service we provide includes live, 24/7 access to your dog's suite while they're in our care and sometimes, it may seem like your dog isn't getting as much time out as you think they should. Understanding a bit more about how we approach kennels at Do Better will hopefully help in better understanding the many different reasons your dog may find themselves in their kennel.
Your dog may have wanted to go
Sometimes dogs tell us when they need a break, when they do we listen. Allowing dogs agency to remove themselves and go back to their kennel is extremely important for the dogs mental wellbeing. Some dogs prefer the safety of their kennel offers.
If a dog elects to go back to their kennel, we always check on them a bit later to see if they're ready to come back out again.
It may be hot outside
Weather can be a consideration whether your dog is in their kennel or not, while we do have means to beat the heat, the kennels air conditioning is something that all our dogs are aware of.
If it's a particularly hot day, they may just prefer to hang out in the AC, It's cooler in the kennel area.
Everybody needs a break sometimes
Training and boarding can both be physically and mentally challenging for dogs, sometimes a break is needed to rest and recuperate.
